Author QA with Read That
*In your opinion what is the best rivals turned lovers story?
Lovely Vicious. The whole series is fantastic!
*Your books always tend to turn toward the darker side of love. Have you ever wanted to write a chipper, happy go lucky story?
No. LOL. I have a very healthy sense of humor, and I enjoy a laugh, but I can’t think of an entire story, dialogue, and characters centered around good humor and such. It doesn’t grab me, and it doesn’t interest me. If it’s a chipper story, the problems might not be deep enough for me to explore. There’s no challenge for me there.
*Have you ever considered writing in another genre?
EROTICA! My next project after this series is called CORRUPT. You can find it on Goodreads. I can’t wait. I’m also interested in mystery and horror, but I think romance always has to be the main element. I love romance.
*I know you probably get asked this question a lot, but how did this story come to life?
I was reading a lot of YA and New Adult. Abbi Glines, Tijan, Colleen Hoover, and I love edgy high school romance. Jared and Tate stepped into my head and after months of thinking about them, I started writing. I started out on historical romance, but it was New Adult that truly spoke to me. When those stories hit the scene, I was engaged!
*Let’s do some fun questions. Who do you think makes the better Christian Grey? Charlie Hunnam or Jamie Dornan?
Charlie Hunnam. Hands down.
*What are some of your secret addictions?
Having my head rubbed, pepperoni pizza with green olives, pinot noir, and Mexican Coke
*Do you have a writing ritual (music must be on, etc)?
Hmmm…no, not really. I just need time. Some authors can whip out their laptops anywhere. I can’t. I need to know that I’m going to be left alone for a while once I sit down. Other than that, it just depends on my mood.
*Racing features heavily in your books. Are you a big racing fan?
Absolutely not. J But I love car movies. Fast and the Furious, Need for Speed, Days of Thunder…I love sports movies in general. They’re inspiring. Rudy still makes me cry.
*Who makes the more formidable rival? Men or women?
Women. Men react from the gut, women react from the mind. Generally speaking. I’m truly afraid of what some women are capable of when they’re pissed off.
*Give me 5 random books that are currently in your tbr pile.
Too Say Nothing of the Dog, Night Circus, Brutal Precious, Black Lies, and A Whole New Crowd
*Who is your ultimate man candy? Charlie Hunnam, of course!
book boyfriend? Mmmmm, Ripper from Unbeautifully.
*What are you currently working on? Finishing edits on Falling Away, then a small secret project I’m not allowed to announce yet, and then Corrupt!
*What are three random facts about yourself or your books that would totally surprise your readers?
- I wear winter clothes practically all year. I like long sleeves and dark colors. Which is why I rarely go outside during the Vegas heat.
- When I’m stressed out, I watch George Carlin or Ricky Gervais on Youtube.
- I hate sushi! Hate, hate, hate! You know how you can eat a food and kind of understand what some people see in it? Yeah, not me with sushi. I have no idea how people can eat that stuff.
*Any parting words?
Remember, you’re YOU for a reason. You have a purpose and cannot be replaced. Be yourself, and go for it!
